Tierra Luna Spa Opens at Arizona Biltmore

On the heels of its recently unveiled property-wide transformation, the Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, has announced the opening of its Tierra Luna Spa. Interior design studio SFA Design crafted the tranquil new oasis to capture the divine connection between the desert and the cosmos. “The spa touts natural desert character through its rustic charm,” SFA Design principal Rosie Feinberg. “We wanted to reinvigorate the Frank Lloyd Wright-style and infuse its essence without overpowering the space. With that, we were inspired to create a sense of place that highlights the surrounding desert, garnering a Southwest ranch style.”

A chic, rugged aesthetic characterizes the holistic spa, which features 12 soothing treatment rooms and a variety of curated therapies inspired by the surrounding Sonoran Desert. The space was conceived to naturally integrate into the desert setting with a sense of openness and a color palette reminiscent of a sunset. Organic materials reinforce the landscape alongside cacti, succulents, and desert flowers added for additional texture and color. Southwestern tiles compose a backdrop against which locally handmade furniture echo the regional vernacular. Soothing outdoor areas invite guests to find respite among flora as well.

To complement the property’s overall aesthetic, elements, like custom metal screens detailed with Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired symbols, serve as subtle focal points, while the tilework found in treatment rooms is finished with patterns seen throughout the resort. “Each element has an infusion of the notorious historic building blocks of the property, but with a unique twist,” Feinberg adds.
