The Carlton Tower Jumeirah has reopened following an 18-month renovation led by design firm 1508 London. Located in London’s posh Knightsbridge district, the hotel features a soothing new ambiance characterized by ageless opulence. “We wanted to create an atmosphere that is tranquil, timeless, and elegant, referencing the glamorous heritage of the hotel while ensuring that guests feel as relaxed as they would with all the comforts and luxuries of home,” says 1508 principal Ailsa Connery. “The design aspiration for the hotel is set from the moment the guest steps across the threshold of the new Carlton Tower: Exquisite materials, fine craftsmanship, and considered detailing throughout evokes an enduring sense of refined luxury in relaxed surroundings, welcoming a new era of loyal guests to Carlton Tower Jumeirah.”
A new arrival experience begins with a lighter sense of grandeur at the porte-cochère. Existing dark granite cladding was replaced with stately English Portland stone and accented by bespoke lighting and planting. The double-height lobby and reception is punctuated by a bespoke fluted chandelier that injects an abstracted reinterpretation of a blooming flower.
Accessible from the lobby, all-day eatery Chinoiserie was reborn with an upscale aesthetic, while Italian concept Al Mare evokes a sophisticated but informal dining experience. Revamped amenities like the new Peak Fitness Club & Spa elevate the hotel’s design prestige, boasting London’s largest naturally illuminated swimming pool installed beneath a glass ceiling and lined with cabanas and thermal areas. Spread across three floors, the wellness hub features newly redesigned treatment rooms as well.
The hotel’s accommodations have been reduced from 216 guestrooms to 186 to expand suites and provide increased space and exposure to natural light. Nearly 90 guestrooms and suites are attached to balconies overlooking the city. The royal suite in particular serves as the hotel’s crown jewel, with three bedrooms housed across an entire private floor.
