Groundbreaking for the St. Regis Longboat Key Resort and Residences is scheduled for this fall in Sarasota, Florida. The forthcoming resort is slated for a spring 2024 opening, and will feature a luxe design from an esteemed team that comprises Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) Miami, Marc-Michaels Interior Design, and SB Architects. “Our goal was to create a sense of relaxed comfort and elegance through contemporary design in both the resort and private residences,” says SB Architects vice president and principal Pinar Harris. “Drawing inspiration from the existing landscape for materials and celebrating the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico through visual connections to the ocean, the design channels the spirit of the St. Regis brand through a timeless expression of barefoot luxury.”
A glass façade, clean lines, natural colors, fine detailing, and floor-to-ceiling windows will define the project, which will frame expansive coastal vistas and infuse abundant natural light. Digital barrel-vaulted ceilings will punctuate the arrival experience as a canvas for ambient lighting projections that will also inject frenetic, avian imagery into the interior.
Sarasota’s circus history will be referenced with subtle touches like rope-like chandeliers and latticework in the St. Regis Bar reminiscent of a circus cage. Nature will also be the central muse of the resort, abounding with thoughtful elements like a saltwater lagoon at the 20,000-square-foot St. Regis Signature Spa and views of the Gulf of Mexico at the open-air Sunset Bar.
In addition to 69 private luxury condominiums, 166 elegant guestrooms will be housed onsite and accessed via corridors lined with carpets that depict patterns reminiscent of sea currents. Glass railings will instill a seamless connection between accommodations and the beachfront. Layered materials wood grain paneling will complement subtle colorways and establish a sense of warmth.
