Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong
Known for its art and antique collection, Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is the home to some of the most distinctive and precious art pieces in the world. An important contributor to these artworks is Gerald Henderson, an acclaimed muralist and painter who was commissioned to come to Hong Kong by the Hotel in 1963. Hero works of art include a grand mural in the main lobby and 14 separate pieces displayed throughout the Hotel. A hero featured piece is the three fairies from ancient Chinese mythology overlooking the Hotel’s main entrance. This iconic fresco is over 17 feet in height and over 11 feet wide and is made of cement, gold and oil paint. A series of golden Mongol mural named “Peking Chariots” can also be found on the first floor of the hotel and inside of Mandarin Grill + Bar.
Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou
Entering its 10th year, Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou continues to explore incremental opportunities. This year, the hotel will launch an artistic and cultural journey over a period of 10 months, collaborating with several notable artists from China.
From March 25th onwards and inaugurating the anniversary celebrations, Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou showcases a series of landscape paintings by renowned Chinese master Zhou Ming, professor for art at Shenzhen University and member of the China National Academy of Painting. Professor Zhou Ming carefully curated a selection of fan-shaped painting in a subtle nod to the iconic “fan” of Mandarin Oriental depicting the picturesque canal towns in Southern China; his delicate and delightful ink & brush work reflect the intricate architectural details including porches, stained windows and beams of historic buildings in the South.
Later in the year, Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou will join hands with budding young artists such as Suwukou, Sean Wu, Shaw Liu and Jiang Sheng to create an immersive art space with contemporary art installations inspired by environmental protection and sustainability. Their work will be on display around the hotel lobby, restaurants and The Spa.
Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid
Madrid’s reputation as a centre of art is made known to the world with collections housing Spanish masterpieces alongside some of Europe’s greatest treasures. The city is inseparable from its art. Every work of art at Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid has been specifically chosen to draw on the city’s artistic legacy.
Paula Anta – The Gallery of Portraits at Pictur
Pictura, one of Madrid’s most popular nightspots, houses the sophisticated Gallery of Portraits by Madrilenian artist Paula Anta, bringing a classic gallery of Old Masters’ portraits with a contemporary twist.
Rachelle Reichert - Salt Tondo I & II at Deessa
Every masterpiece—be it culinary or artistic—is defined by its essential elements. Here that essential ingredient is salt. Working with Spanish salt sourced from the Torrevieja region—home to chef Quique Dacosta—artist Rachelle Reichert created aesthetic homages to the sea that are at once poetic and earthy. The sculptures, like culinary masterpieces, are defined by subtlety and detail.
Johina García-Concheso – Golden Cloud
Johina Garcia-Concheso is a Spanish muralist specialized in employing traditional techniques with contemporary designs. Garcia-Concheso's hand-painted mural for the Presidential Suite bedroom takes its inspiration from traditional frescoes of clouds. The golden tone of the paint recalls classical gilding; the abstracted clouds, however, depart from tradition in their free-flowing, atmospheric interpretation.

Mandarin Oriental, New York
Spanning an impressive 3,300 square feet, Suite 5000 is an awe-inspiring space designed in a luxurious residential setting and defined by the culture of NYC—particularly in its art, music, fashion, and design. Overlooking Central Park, the Manhattan skyline, and the Hudson River from the 50th floor, the two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath signature suite epitomizes luxury in the sky.
Curated one-of-a-kind art pieces and design details are seen throughout the space. The master bedroom, closet and bathroom were designed to recall the glamour and history of New York’s exclusive Park Avenue addresses. The master bedroom features an elegant custom bed complemented with handmade wallpaper, while a large round soaking tub illuminated by a ring of Swarovski crystals highlight the master bathroom. Upon entry, guests are greeted by a seven-foot geometric art piece called Saida XXXIV: Chrome from artist Steven Naifeh that explores the kinship between the West and the East, as well as a few eclectic pieces called Fruity Delight in Every Bite by Rachel Lee Hovnanian made from cereal boxes and Alben’s Darth Vader Coke Zero that resembles the fictional character using recycled soda cans. Backstage portraits of the international fashion scene by famed fashion photographer Anna Bauer are featured within the master closet. A custom-cut Calcutta gold marble pattern on the entry floor was designed to resemble orchid petals, a nod to the hotel’s Oriental heritage, while the dining area features a Swarovski crystal installation that cascades down like a waterfall. Every inch of Suite 5000 was thoughtfully considered to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
